Commencing in 2007 and under the aegis of the WCS Old Boys and Girls Association, those who attended and left Whanganui Collegiate School 50 years or more ago, are recognised with membership to the Big School Society. This year, 2025, it includes all those who left in 1975 or earlier.
Big School is a special place for Whanganui Collegiate School students, present and past. It holds many great memories and recognises the achievements and sacrifices made by Whanganui Collegiate School students whilst at School.
Big School is symbolic of the history and traditions of Whanganui Collegiate School and the Big School Society is a living embodiment of this.
Today, it is important for Whanganui Collegiate School to maintain links with its alumni, to ensure long term interest and commitment from our extended community and to keep alight for the future the heritage of this great School.
The Big School Society Reunion Weekend is held to unite members and their spouses/partners, to enhance the enrichment and friendship that began at Whanganui Collegiate School over 50 years ago. In the words of the Collegiate Old Boys’ motto:
