The Whanganui Collegiate Rugby Supporters Club extends its gratitude to NZCT for the generous grant of $12,000 that made the installation of rugby bunkers at Whanganui Collegiate School's No. 1 ground possible. This remarkable addition, a year in the making, has already proven to be invaluable for players and management alike during challenging weather conditions.
The bunkers were put to excellent use during the interchange with Lindisfarne College in June, when horizontal rain swept across the field. Despite the adverse conditions, the bunkers provided much-needed shelter, keeping players and team management warm and dry throughout the day. Their arrival has not only enhanced the experience for the home teams but also extended the same comfort and protection to visiting teams, fulfilling the vision of the grant proposal.
NZCT is a charitable trust that supports many worthy causes in the community. Member outlets in Whanganui are Carolyn's Boatshed, Castlecliff Hotel, Shotz Bar and Stellar Bar.
Crafted by Daytech Sports Equipment in Masterton, these bunkers reflect a commitment to durability and practicality, ensuring they will continue to serve their purpose for years to come. Thanks to NZCT's support, the spirit of rugby and sportsmanship continues at Whanganui Collegiate School, even in the harshest weather.
